ILL REQUEST
Requesting an Interlibrary Loan
- Requestors must complete an ILL Request Form. Paper copies of the form are available at the Circulation and Information Desks. An electronic copy of the form may be found at: Request for Journal Article or Book
- Please do not submit literature search printouts, photocopied bibliographies, or handwritten lists of articles. Each item should be requested individually, using the ILL Request Form. Information contained on literature search printouts may be cut up and each complete citation affixed to a paper request form.
- Complete bibliographic information for each journal article or book must be supplied, e.g. author, title of journal/book, title of article, year of publication, volume, issue, pages, etc. If you are having trouble locating this information, librarians at the Information Desk will be happy to help.
- Request forms may be submitted via U.S. mail, fax, electronic form, or in person.
- The ILL Department does not limit the total number of requests submitted per person. However, if a large number of requests are submitted simultaneously, five (5) requests per person per day will be processed
- It is the responsibility of the requestor to clearly indicate the latest date that the material may be received, e.g. article needed by July 5, 2009. Requests are generally filled within three (3) working days; processing time is determined by the lending library. Requestors should allow one week from the date of submission for delivery.
- To inquire about the status of loan requests, visit the ILL Department between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm. The department is located on the CR or upper level of the Library. Inquiries may be made by telephone; call (973) 972-5319 (x2-5319) or (973) 972-7456 (x2-7456).

Rush ILL Requests
Rush ILL requests can be made by going directly to the ILL office. Rush requests are only available for journal articles. They will be received within 24 hours.
