Med-Peds Program

Fellowship Opportunities

Approximately 60 percent of our graduating residents continue their training in a subspecialty of Internal Medicine. We always recommend that you first concentrate on becoming an excellent Internist and then decide on a subspecialty. However, in today's competitive world, it is wise to think about your career goals early.

The Department of Medicine at New Jersey Medical School offers competitive ACGME approved Fellowships in most of the sub-specialties of Medicine. The subspecialty Program Directors are receptive and available to our residents to discuss their career plans and goals. Our mentoring program provides you with the necessary preparation and networking that is required to help you attain your fellowship. Our Annual Career Workshop teaches you all the important skills needed throughout the application and interview process.

If you think you might be interested in a subspecialty fellowship, a chat with that subspecialty's Fellowship Program Director at New Jersey Medical School is probably your first stop. Also, discussing your goals with the Fellows currently training in that area might help you make up your mind. Lastly, try an elective month at one of our training sites, to really experience the field.

Check out these websites to learn more about the subspecialty you're interested in.
