Chairman's Message
Housestaff
training is a high priority for the Department of Medicine
at New Jersey Medical School. The residency has been modeled
to reflect the current educational needs of Internal Medicine
trainees. It is a visionary program in which training occurs
in the best tradition of American academic medicine, with
particular emphasis on bedside teaching, evidence-based practice,
and the latest advances in diagnostics and therapeutics.
The program
consists of three institutions that are complementary. University
Hospital is an urban tertiary care facility, adjacent to the
New Jersey Medical School, which also serves as the primary
care provider for a predominantly inner city population. The
East Orange Veterans' Administration Healthcare System serves
a traditional veteran population with a strong emphasis on
clinical education and research. Hackensack University Medical
Center, in Bergen County, is a well recognized community-based
hospital with highly developed advanced care services in Cardiology
and Oncology.
Throughout
our system, our residents experience all aspects of medical
pathology, in varied patient populations, on both the ambulatory
and inpatient services. This rich diversity provides a balanced
experience that is matched by few other programs. |

The New Jersey Medical School Department of Medicine consists
of a full-time faculty with expertise in Primary Care and General
Internal Medicine as well as the medical subspecialties. A full
complement of training programs in the medical subspecialties
is offered. Our
graduates are highly qualified and sought after for careers
in clinical practice, competitive subspecialty training programs,
and academic medicine.
As
Chairman, I can assure you that the Residency Training Program
and education at all levels is a top priority for the department.
Thank you for your interest in our exciting program
I look forward to meeting with you on your Interview Day.
