The combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics (Med/Peds) residency training program at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – New Jersey Medical School (UMDNJ-NJMS) is a fully accredited 4-year program designed to train physicians to provide comprehensive medical care for adults and children. At the end of four years, graduates become board eligible for both the Internal Medicine and the Pediatrics certification exams. After a Med-Peds residency, the opportunities are endless allowing the Med-Peds trainee to go on to general practice or subspecialty training in Medicine, Pediatrics or both.

In existence for over twenty years, the UMDNJ-NJMS Med-Peds program philosophy is encompassed by four words: Education — Diversity — Community — Vision

Education While rotating through the three affiliated teaching sites - University Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center, and East Orange Veterans Affairs Medical Center - our residents receive a comprehensive education in both the inpatient and ambulatory care of adults and children. The Med-Peds Practice, faculty trained in med-peds residencies, and Med-Peds Grand Rounds help bridge the two disciplines together.

Diversity Our program finds its strength in the diversity of both our residents and our patients.

Community With a strong sense of community, our program prides itself on being a tightly knit, unique group.

Vision — Our vision is to train physicians in the art and science of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

This site will introduce you to our philosophy and the benefits of being a Med-Peds resident at UMDNJ.
