| The Serials Department is responsible for management of the Smith Library print journal collection. Our print collection consists of over 110,000 bound volumes. Our office is located on the upper level of the Library, in Room C921. Current Journals The latest issues (received within the most recent seven days) are displayed on the shelves immediately in front of the Serials Office. Once they have been displayed for one week, the journals are then placed on the slanted display shelves at the top of the C-Level Staircase, adjacent to the study rooms and photocopy area. All journals are shelved alphabetically by title, with the most recent on display and the rest of the unbound issues located immediately below.Once a month, unbound issues are sent to the bindery and will be unavailable for four weeks. Since many of our print titles are also available electronically, it may be possible for users to have uninterrupted access. If you cannot locate a journal on our shelves and have checked the holdings in our catalog, please feel free to ask a member of the Serials staff, either in person or by telephone at 973-972-5299 (x2-5299). Bound Volumes The George F. Smith Library bound journals are shelved in three different locations. They are:
Forms to request journals from the basement level are available at the Information Desk, and, when completed, can also be returned to that location. A member of the Reference, Serials, or Circulation Departments can then retrieve the volume(s) for your use. ALL journals in the Smith Library’s print collection are unavailable to be checked out, but there are photocopiers available on the C and B Levels. The detailed George F. Smith Library journal collection information appears just below the journal’s bibliographic record, with the most recent issues appearing first. The Electronic Journal/Database collection is maintained by the University Libraries Electronic Resources Librarian.
