Sources of Practice Guidelines ** National Guideline Clearinghouse This is an excellent resource for finding practice guidelines from many organizations, collected and organized by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the American Association of Health Plans. Not all the guidelines listed here are evidence-based many any are consensus-based (definitions for different types of guidelines are found at this site.) There are Web and PDA versions of this information available. To search Library Homepage --> Databases --> National Guideline Clearinghouse (NCG)US Preventive Services Task Force This is a compilation of prevention guidelines, developed by an independent panel of experts in primary care and prevention that systematically reviews the evidence of effectiveness and develops recommendations for clinical preventive services. They use a very rigorous method to develop these guidelines.
