PubMed for PDAs – Download It!
|
| The PubMed version for personal digital assistants has a new name, MEDLINE Database on Tap or MD on Tap or MDoT. An introductory client for PDAs and Smartphones with Palm operating systems can be downloaded at http://archive.nlm.nih.gov/proj/mdot/downloadPalm.php.
This version presents two new options: 1. When the Auto Spell Check option is selected, ambiguous search terms are replaced with those terms suggested by an internal e-spell check utility. The actual terms used display at the bottom of the Search tab. 2. As an alternative to the default PubMed search engine, users can select Essie, an experimental probabilistic search engine developed at the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications. Essie ranks results by relevance, then by date. These options can be combined with any/all of the other search options. 3. A big “Go” button has replaced the magnifying glass as the icon to tap to execute a search. An equivalent Pocket PC client is under development and will be released soon. |
