On Monday, January 16, 2006, installation of fire sprinklers, as well as smoke and heat detection systems, will begin in the UMDNJ – George F. Smith Library of the Health Sciences. Areas on the main floor of the Library as well as the lower floor will be worked on simultaneously, in order to move quickly with completion of this required installation. We will begin with the area around the computers on the Mezzanine Level.
In order to minimize noise and disruption, we have asked that crews begin work before the Library opens, so that they finish by 2:30pm each day. Installation of fire sprinklers will cease in the public areas during final exam time, beginning in late April through June 2006, in order to provide users with optimal conditions for quiet study.
The fire sprinkler project has been mandated by UMDNJ and its insurance carrier.
