Getting Started

You can access the digital collections of the UMDNJ – University Libraries by following the link located at the left or going to http://www.umdnj.edu/librweb.  Here, you will find access points for all electronic databases, books, and journals.  You will not be asked to log in or authenticate during a connect session until you click on a specific resource to access it.  When you do, a box will pop up on your computer screen, prompting you to enter your full last name and the last four digits of your University I.D. number (your “A” number).

For example, suppose you want to search the MEDLINE database.  You would go to the UMDNJ – University Libraries’ Web site, click on the “Databases” link, and scroll down to find “MEDLINE” in the list.  When you click on MEDLINE, you will be prompted to authenticate as described above.

To locate your “A” number, go to the UMDNJ portal, found at http://www.myumdnj.edu.  Once you’ve logged in to the portal, look for the “Welcome” tab.  You’ll be able to find you individual “A” number by clicking the link in the box labeled “University-wide Tool Box.”

The Libraries’ proxy system won’t remember your login between sessions.  If you shut down your computer and then want to use library resources later that day, you will have to re-authenticate by typing your last name and the last four digits of the “A” number again.

For detailed instructions and more information, consult the UMDNJ Libraries’Remote Access/EZProxypage.
