Requesting Copies of Library MaterialsThe UMDNJ – George F. Smith Library of the Health Sciences serves as the home library for the initiation of all materials requests from Distance Education programs students. When prompted to indicate your primary campus on an Interlibrary Loan request form, you should answer “Newark.” Copies of all articles should be requested using the Interlibrary Loan Request Form. Some of our databases have a “FIND IT@UMDNJ” feature. A click on this button will generate an ILL form that is populated with the information about the article that you want. If you are using a resource that doesn’t have a “FIND IT” button, you can request your materials using the standard ILL form and filling in the information yourself. It is important to always indicate “Distance Education Student” status on any ILL form when initiating a request. When you do this, our ILL staff will be able to assess appropriate service fees, if any, and will expedite your request for article copies, sending them directly to you in the manner you’ve chosen. If you need an article available in print from UMDNJ – University Libraries: Students should indicate that they are willing to pay the pull/copy fee of $.25/page. Articles will be pulled, scanned/copied, and mailed/faxed/sent via electronic desktop delivery. Payment should be made upon receipt of copies. If you need an article NOT owned by UMDNJ – University Libraries: The Interlibrary Loan Department makes every effort to obtain copies of requested articles from libraries who participate in various lending/borrowing networks and who will fill those requests at no charge. If this is not possible and staff must go out of network to fill requests, there MAY be a charge for obtaining the article. The costs vary, depending upon the charges assessed by the lending library. Payment should be made upon receipt of the requested materials. For book request, please use the Book Request Form. There will be a $22 fee for books shipped to you. For more information, please read the Interlibrary Loan Policies information. |
