Announcing new portal enhancements
- Redesigned my.UMDNJ gateway screen
- Improved access to personal Single Sign-on (SSO) applications
- My App’s icon: one stop click to access portal SSO’s
- Single Sign-On access to Sun Java E-mail
- Sun Java E-mail Password Reset
The bulk of the my.UMDNJ changes you will observe with the new release are additive and are preliminary to being able to launch a guest portal.
1. One noticeable change with this upgrade is the look of the gateway screen.
2. Another change is the introduction of the my apps icon inside my.UMDNJ.
- my apps is a shortcut to applications like WebCT and iTunes U. From my apps there will be no need to enter separate log-in credentials for each application because our single sign-on (SSO) technology is at work. The SSO links that you have always used to connect to applications in the channels will still be there.
- You will find my apps on the header next to the Groups icon.
3. New Behavior Connecting to E-mail from my.UMDNJ.
- After clicking the e-mail icon in my.UMDNJ, all UMDNJ mail users will see the standard e-mail gateway page. Above the line will be the same connection to the portal e-mail interface you are used to. Below the line, however, the system will display one connection to the specific e-mail system you primarily use, e.g. Sun mail, Groupwise or Exchange.
- For Sun mail users there is an added benefit: The first time you connect to Sun Mail from this link, you will be prompted for credentials. But after this initialization, in subsequent sessions no credentials need to be re-entered.
- The SUN mail interface will just open with a click. This behavior will continue until such time as you change your e-mail password again. Then, another re-initialization process will be required. If you are a Sun E-mail user, you will find this reset feature after clicking the E-mail Icon. (Groupwise & Exchange mail users and students will not see this link).
