IRB Fees

Effective with IRB applications received on or after December 1, 2004, a new fee schedule will be put into place for IRB review on all campuses. This fee structure will apply, at this time, only to industry sponsored studies and all contractual arrangements upon expiration of current contracts. Please make sure that your sponsors are aware of the current IRB fee and your studies are budgeted appropriately.

Due to the increasing costs of federally required IRB review, UMDNJ will increase the IRB fees for industry sponsored research. This change is based upon market benchmarks which are based upon the Price Waterhouse Cooper review of national IRE review costs to be applied to the Human Subjects Protection Program.

The IRB Fees will be based on the following schedule:

• Initial review: $2,500.00
• Continuing review: $750.00
• Changes to Research (each site) (ie. additions to the study, modifications/amendment, new or updated recruitment materials/advertisements, Translations): $250.00
• There is no charge for administrative modifications (i.e. study personnel changes, enrollment adjustments, or site additions)
