Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) Education
All UMDNJ faculty, students, and other individuals involved in human subjects research* are required to complete the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) Basic Course by December 28, 2007 and to complete the CITI Refresher Course every three years thereafter. This requirement also extends to all IRB members and Human Subjects Protection program staff.
After December 28, 2007, Campus IRBs will not issue final approval of any IRB submissions until it is verified that listed study personnel have completed the current requirements for human subjects research education.
*Human subjects research is defined as any research activity designed to gain generalizable knowledge about classes or categories of human subjects; involving human subjects and / or human biologic specimens; data gathered from human subjects through interaction or intervention; device or drug testing in humans; collection of identifiable private information.
