PURPOSE: To set policy regarding Supplemental Disability Income Coverage.

RESPONSIBILITY: The Vice President for Human Resources is to ensure compliance with this policy.

POLICY:
 
It is the policy of the university to provide supplemental disability income coverage under the following program:

New Jersey State Temporary Disability Plan
 
Staff member contributes up to a limit prescribed by law. Staff member is eligible to receive benefits based on being employed for twenty (20) weeks in the State of New Jersey.

Benefits are two-thirds (2/3) of salary up to a maximum allowable by law. Total maximum benefit for each period of disability is one-third (1/3) of the total wages in New Jersey employment during the base year or twenty-six (26) times the weekly benefit amount whichever is lesser.
