Employee Giving Campaign 2011-2012

Dear UMDNJ Faculty and Staff,
The UMDNJ family is well known for its compassion and generosity for those in need. Every day UMDNJ employees make a difference in people’s lives locally, statewide, nationally and internationally through our work in patient care, research, education and community service.
Traditionally, the University has supported an annual charitable fundraising campaign for employees. This year our fundraising campaign will focus exclusively on the UMDNJ Annual Fund. Like many public institutions of higher education, we must increasingly look for financial support from a variety of donor groups. Last year the UMDNJ Annual Fund was launched as an opportunity to enhance the UMDNJ tradition of giving, with a focus on developing and improving the programs and facilities of UMDNJ. The Moving Forward by Giving Back campaign raised more than $211,000 from the UMDNJ family of employees, faculty members, senior managers and trustees and was augmented by a dollar-for-dollar match by the Foundation of UMDNJ. Through our partnership with the Foundation of UMDNJ, 100% of these dollars were provided back to the schools and units to fund increased scholarship support on the Stratford campus, expanded outreach programming for the Newark community, facility renovations in the Medical Sciences Building in Newark and the Cardiovascular Institute of New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
This year UMDNJ plans to build on this success and will again focus our charitable giving efforts on supporting the University’s needs through the Moving Forward by Giving Back Annual Fund campaign. Donors to the UMDNJ Annual Fund will continue to have the opportunity to support a specific project of a school or healthcare unit.
October 31 marks the official kickoff of this year’s giving campaign. As you consider a gift, you still will have the convenience of donating by credit card, check or 2012 calendar year payroll deduction.
