Compensation Services
Policies
Purpose The purpose is to provide a central source outlining and summarizing the policies and practices that pertain to the administration of the compensation system for staff positions at UMDNJ and to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations governing pay. The Compensation Plan for UMDNJ consists of salary policies, the schedule of salary ranges and rates to which positions are assigned, and the approved UMDNJ Job Title Listing for staff positions. These are the official components for compensating staff employees regardless of the source of funds.
Responsibility
The Vice President for Human Resources is responsible for ensuring compliance with the following policies.
Compensation Policies – Changes, Limitations and Application
Compensation policies for UMDNJ apply to staff employees and cover UMDNJ campuses, locations, facilities and affiliations statewide. The University reserves the right to change, amend or discontinue, at any time, any of its compensation policies or practices as required. Please note that the Corporate Human Resources, Compensation Office and Campus Compensation Offices will interpret and answer any questions that you may have concerning the Human Resources Compensation Policies and Practices.
Compensation Program Methodology
The compensation program will use publicly available surveys, directed surveys, and other appropriate information to keep the program competitive with industries and organizations with whom we compete for human resources. Collectively bargained rates of pay will form a part of the overall compensation program.
