Philosophy
The University of Medicine and Dentistry
of New Jersey is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education,
research, delivery of health care and service to our communities
and the entire state. The University believes that its human resources
are the key element for this continuing success.
The Compensation Department in Human Resources develops strategies
and policies that support this mission and provides a compensation
system that enables UMDNJ to:
Provide an environment for growth, accomplishment and reward to attract, motivate, retain and develop the best and brightest talent.
Support the uniqueness of each of our units, while remaining committed to our overall mission.
Maintain salary structures that are competitive with the external markets.
Ensure that the respective collective bargaining unit agreements are properly administered relative to the negotiated pay policies, practices and structures.
To accomplish our objectives, the Compensation Department in Human Resources provides programs that establish and maintain competitive compensation levels within relevant markets with available financial
resources.
Compensation Services
The following services are provided to support UMDNJ´s compensation objectives:
Develop strategies to support the University´s defined goals.
Proactively partner with management to develop compensation tools, systems and processes to enhance their effectiveness in making pay and organizational decisions.
Evaluate jobs objectively to ensure continuity within the organization related to:
- Comparability of duties
- Complexity
- Scope of responsibility
- Impact on the University
Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations governing pay.
Conduct benchmark salary surveys to assess our compensation levels to our peers in the marketplace.
Provide externally focused strategies to management who are responsible for making pay decisions.
