Overview
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey offers a comprehensive benefits package with a wide variety of benefits choices. New hires are introduced to the State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) by benefits staff during New Hire Orientation, and are given a two (2) month window for initial enrollment.

Each year, the Human Resources Department conducts an annual Open Enrollment period for the State Health Benefits Plan (SHBP) during the month of October, which allows employees to make changes in their existing coverage. However, our employees are able to make changes, for themselves or their dependents, for any qualifying life event throughout the year.

Open Enrollment including Campus Benefits Fairs is great opportunities for our employees to review their health plans and supplemental benefits that are available and meet their Campus Benefits staff. We also offer Campus Brown Bag Session on important topics of interest to our employees.
