Human Resources supports the University’s mission of community service through the administration of the following programs:
Employee Charitable Campaign
Through the New Jersey State Employee Charitable Campaign (ECC), UMDNJ employees are given the opportunity to improve the quality of life for thousands of people. The campaign is held annually in the fall. Faculty and staff, through voluntary contribution, can help provide funding to their choice of more than one thousand human care, health and educational services and programs that are part of the ECC. Donations to the campaign can be made through payroll deduction or a one-time donation by check.
Youth Work Experience Program
Each year UMDNJ participates in the Newark Youth One Stop Career Center’s Youth Work Experience Program. This program is funded by the City of Newark. The Newark campus is a worksite for 60 – 100 economically disadvantaged Newark youths between the ages of 14 and 21. Students are encouraged to remain in school to advance their education. It is the worksite’s responsibility to identify and teach skills required for work assignments; provide youth with proper work ethics; help prepare youth to make the transition from school to work; and develop self-esteem.
