Dear UMDNJ Community,

On June 4, New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney, Senator Joseph Vitale, and Senator Donald Norcross introduced legislation to reorganize higher education in New Jersey by merging all of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with Rutgers University. The legislation also grants greater autonomy to Rutgers-Camden and creates a joint board between Rutgers-Camden and Rowan University.

We believe the general framework of the proposed legislation has the potential to benefit all regions of the State. Please be assured UMDNJ will continue to provide input and advice to this process as it moves forward. We look forward to the opportunity to participate in realizing a vision for higher education that will truly invigorate, strengthen and transform our University and the State of New Jersey.
