UMDNJ Physician Offers Free “Health Update”
|
STRATFORD — Despite the 80-hour work weeks common to medical residency programs, Dr. Jennifer Caudle of the UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine has found time - and a way - to answer the health questions of countless Americans. She’s written a health information newsletter that she provides free via the Internet.
“Millions of Americans search the internet each day, looking for reliable health information,” said Dr. Caudle, a second year Family Medicine resident at the medical school. “At the same time, I was struck by how many patients I see each day who believe some of the myths about health and medicine. Writing the newsletter gives me a way to provide people with a good, common-sense approach to their health and wellness.”
Dr. Caudle has recently released the second edition of The Health Update. In it, she tackles three common health myths: Does the flu shot cause the flu? Can duct tape cure warts? Do greasy foods cause acne? She answers each question with brief, straightforward information that consumers can count on. The Health Update has nearly 300 current subscribers and that number is growing each week.
“It’s a privilege to be able to share in the health of others by making relevant, practical information easily accessible to them,” she said. “I hope that those who read the newsletter will, in turn, find it valuable enough that they will share it with their friends and loved ones.”
