UMDNJ to Host Information Session on Urban Systems PhD Program

NEWARK — The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey UMDNJ invites prospective students to attend an information session to learn about the Urban Health track of its PhD in Urban Systems program, which focuses on conducting research related to urban health and improving health and healthcare in cities.
The session, for those in government, social services, nursing, private industry and other fields, will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, at the Stanley Bergen Building, 65 Bergen Street, in Newark. The session will provide an overview of the program as well as potential career applications. Faculty and current students will be on hand to meet with visitors and respond to questions.
The 72-credit, Newark- based PhD in Urban Systems program, offered jointly by UMDNJ, the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University-Newark, prepares individuals to conduct research and to analyze, develop, implement and evaluate policies and services for urban populations. After completing the core requirements, students will specialize in one of three areas: Urban Health, Urban Environments or Urban Education.
The Urban Health specialization is offered through UMDNJ-School of Nursing. The degree will benefit those serving in or aspiring to leadership roles in government, public and private industry, academic institutions, and non-profit agencies. Applications are now being accepted for Fall 2007.
