Flag Football Tournament Benefits David Akers’ Kicks for Kids
School of Osteopathic Medicine participates in fundraiser

STRATFORD - Far from the famed Lambeau Field, the Super Bowl of area flag football fundraising will pit more than 100 enthusiastic medical school students and faculty in a quest for charitable contributions beginning at 10 a.m., on Saturday, April 8, at Washington Township High School, on Egg Harbor Road, in Turnersville.

These weekend warriors, divided among teams of five players, will punt, pass and kick in their quest to become champions of the second annual “David Akers’ Kicks for Kids” flag football tournament sponsored by the Pediatric Medical Club and Sports Medicine Club at the UMDNJ-School of Osteopathic Medicine, in Stratford.

Along with the schools from UMDNJ, tournament teams will represent the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Temple University Dental School. The players have each paid a $12 registration fee to compete. Prizes that include Eagles tickets and autographed Eagles memorabilia will be available to players and fans that attend.

Proceeds from the tournament help at-risk children in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area.
The rain date for this event is Sunday, April 9 at the same time and location.

UMDNJ is the nation's largest free-standing public health sciences university with more than 5,500 students attending the state's three medical schools, its only dental school, a graduate school of biomedical sciences, a school of health related professions, a school of nursing and its only school of public health, on five campuses. Last year, there were more than two million patient visits to UMDNJ facilities and faculty at campuses in Newark, New Brunswick/Piscataway, Scotch Plains, Camden and Stratford.
