UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
President of Association of American Medical Colleges To Address
Medical Students
Dr. Jordan Cohen, president of the Association of American Medical
Colleges, will deliver the keynote address to the Class of 2004
during the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
(UMDNJ)-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School convocation ceremony
on Monday, May 24, at 7 p.m., at the Doubletree Hotel in Somerset.
Dr. Cohen, who received an honorary degree from UMDNJ in 1996,
is nationally recognized for his leadership in academic medicine.
He has served as the president of the AAMC for the past decade
and was dean of the School of Medicine at the State University
of New York at Stony Brook for six years prior to that. He also
has served on more than two dozen professional organizations and
is a published scholar on many of the pressing issues facing academic
medicine, from graduate medical education to diversity to curricular
reform.
The convocation ceremony celebrates the outstanding achievements
in academics, clinical studies and community service among this
year's graduating physicians and honors distinguished faculty
at the school.
The commencement ceremony for the Class of 2004, the largest
in the University's history, will take place on Tuesday, May 25,
at 10:30 a.m. at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton.
