Annual Match Day on March 20
Fourth-year Medical Students Will Learn
Where They Will Do Hospital Residencies
Fourth-year students at the two allopathic medical schools of
the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)
will learn where they will pursue their postgraduate medical education
during the annual National Resident Match Day ceremonies on Thursday,
March 20, at the Newark, New Brunswick and Camden campuses.
At an emotionally-charged ceremony at noon at UMDNJ's two allopathic
medical schools, UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark and
UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick and
Camden, more than 250 anxious future physicians will learn the
program in which they will train in their selected specialities
following graduation.
This same scene will be replicated at medical schools throughout
the nation as part of National Resident Matching Program, which
is based in Washington, D.C. The program matches student requests--compiled
in order of choice--to residency openings at hospitals nationwide.
