At UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School
Free Skin Cancer Screenings Scheduled for June 19 and 26

Dermatologists at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) will conduct free skin cancer screenings on Thursday, June 19, and Thursday, June 26. These evaluations will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Suite 3200 at the Doctor's Office Center, 90 Bergen St., Newark.

"The incidence of skin cancer in America is rising dramatically, with millions of Americans affected and thousands of deaths annually from melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer," said Robert A. Schwartz, M.D., M.P.H., professor and head of dermatology at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. "The vast majority of skin cancer is preventable. In addition, it is usually curable if detected early."

These screenings at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School are funded through a grant from 3M Pharmaceuticals, a division of 3M Health Care, which develops, manufactures and sells prescription drug products related to dermatology and other medical specialties.
