Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Science
The academic program for Ph.D. students features
two years of general and specialized course work
followed by a period of intensive research in an
area selected by the student and his/her faculty
mentor. Each program features a combination of required
and elective courses. All students are required
to take a graduate-level course in biochemistry
and molecular biology. Students also receive training
in preparation and presentation of seminars. Most
courses are specifically tailored for Ph.D. students,
although several programs also require specific
medical school courses as part of their training
program. A full description of academic programs,
faculty research, course offerings and other academic
matters are available in the Academic Programs and Admissions sections.
The successful Ph.D. candidate can expect to receive a stipend of at least $24,000/year, tuition remission and paid health insurance.
