This didactic and discussion course offers an overview of clinical oncology and has been designed to complement the molecular oncology and cancer pathology courses currently available through the GSBS. While the focus is on cancer biology and cancer treatment from the clinical perspective, translational research opportunities will also be discussed and incorporated into lectures. In addition to the lectures, each student will have one opportunity to attend a tumor conference in which patient cases are discussed by interdisciplinary teams of Oncologists and Clinicians from the University Hospital and the NJMS-UH Cancer Center. An online H.I.P.A. compliance course will be required of all who participate in the course. A final 3 page paper on one of the areas of interest will be used to assess the 70 percent of the final grade, class participation 20 percent, and the H.I.P.A. compliance on-line exam, 10 percent. |
