Core Curriculum Molecular
and Cellular Biology
The Core Curriculum is designed as a comprehensive interdisciplinary course for all first year graduate students in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The goal of the Core Curriculum is to provide a broad foundation in biomedical sciences and serve as a framework for advanced study in more specialized areas.
The class will meet for three two-hour sessions each week, Mon., Wed., Fri., 9:30-11:30 AM . The course consists of seven modules, four of which will be covered in the first semester for five credits, and the remaining three will be offered in the second semester for three credits. Examinations will be in an essay format, with at least one exam for each module. Final grades for each semester will be determined from the average of the module exams. The textbook for the course is Molecular Cell Biology, 6th edition, by Lodish, Berk, Kaiser, Krieger, Scott, Bretscher, Ploegh and Matsudaira, 2008, W.H. Freeman and Company, New York .
