POLICY ON TUITION AND FEES
Tuition and fees for each semester are payable in advance. There is a late registration fee of $50, and a late payment fee of $50 per month beginning 30 days after billing.

A matriculated student may arrange with the Graduate Student Office to follow a deferred payment plan as follows:

1. Payment of all fees plus one-half of the tuition before or upon registration.

2. Payment of one-quarter of the tuition 30 days after the registration date and one-quarter 60 days after enrollment.

The fee for the deferred payment plan is $20. Any student who elects to use the deferred payment plan and finds it impossible to meet this obligation must contact the Financial Aid Officer immediately to make alternative arrangements. No degree will be awarded to any student until all financial obligations to the school have been satisfied.

Students who withdraw voluntarily from a course or from school within one week after registration or the start of a course will receive a full tuition refund and the course will not appear on their official transcript.

Students withdrawing up to three weeks after the course begins will receive an 80% tuition refund at the discretion of the Dean or his designee. No tuition will be refunded beyond 3 weeks after the course has begun.

Withdrawals beyond the first week after the course begins will be noted as WD on the official transcript. Withdrawals generally will NOT be granted during the final third of a course.

Any student who has been awarded financial aid may defer payment of tuition and fees until receipt of such aid. A deferment form must be completed in the Financial Aid office. Bills become due and payable immediately when financial aid (including loans from any source, scholarships, or other subvention) is received.

Graduate Fellowships
A limited number of graduate fellowships and tuition waivers are available to full-time matriculated students. These fellowships are based on merit and students must remain in good academic standing to be eligible for continued support.

Financial Aid Programs
Financial aid is usually provided by or through federal and state agencies, foundations, corporations, and the University. Grants are regarded as "gift" assistance and need not be repaid, although they may carry certain provisions. Loans that are offered can be repaid over an extended period after the student graduates. Where aid is offered in the form of a job, the student is paid an hourly rate for work actually performed.

Financial aid is awarded on the basis of "financial need" as determined by federal guidelines. The University expects that students and their families will contribute to the fullest of their ability to meet educational expenses. Students who feel that they will be in need of assistance should request information and applications from the University-wide Financial Aid Office as soon as accepted for admission. Returning students must plan to meet the specified application deadline, usually May 1, to receive financial aid the
following September.

All students receiving financial aid must maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the Graduate School.
