General Degree Requirements
Ph.D. – 40 credits of course work
with a grade point average of “B” or
better. Successful completion of a Qualifying
Examination. Original laboratory research culminating
in a written Thesis acceptable to an advisory
committee and the graduate school.
M.S. - 25 credits of course work with a grade
point average of “B” or better.
Original laboratory (5 credits) research culminating
in a written Thesis acceptable to an advisory
committee and the graduate school.
MBS - 30 credits of coursework and maintain
a
“B” average.
Required courses for Masters students include
one of the following 3 options:
1. The Core Course in Biomedical Sciences –
8 credits over two semesters – Tues –
Thurs. 4-6 PM.
(for those contemplating application
to the Ph.D. program)
2. Molecular and Genetic Medicine – 7
credits, Fall semester w/ limited enrollment.
(for those contemplating application to the Medical
or Osteopathic School)
3. Fundamentals in Biomedical Sciences –
6 credits over 2 semesters; one evening a week
6-9 PM.
4. Dental Physiology (Fall), Dental Biochemistry
(Spring)
(for those contemplating application to the Dental
School)
Students in the full-time program are also required
to take a one credit seminar course and a 2 credit
lab rotation. All other courses are electives.
