Application forms may be printed locally and submitted to the Graduate School along with an application fee of $40 (waived for citizens and permanent residents of the USA applying to our doctoral programs), payable to UMDNJ, and a statement describing your motivation for pursuing an advanced degree in biomedical sciences. Three letters of recommendation and GRE scores also are required, as indicated under the Admission Information section of this web page.

Requirements for the Ph.D. degree include maintaining a B average in course work, successfully completing a comprehensive qualifying examination, conducting independent research under the supervision of a faculty mentor and a thesis advisory committee, preparing a written dissertation and defending the dissertation in a final oral examination. It is expected that students will have passed their qualifying examination and chosen a thesis research mentor no later than the end of their second year of study.
