Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Science

 


Description: The GSBS – Newark offers an interdisciplinary program of study leading to the Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences. The goal of this program is to train research scientists in the latest theory and technology used in modern molecular, cellular and biomedical research and to apply this knowledge to solving biomedical research problems. To achieve this goal, a multi-disciplinary program has been developed that offers a flexible curriculum individually tailored to students needs. The student can select thesis research work from any participating faculty from within the various departments of the GSBS.




This program consists of (click for full description):

Coursework, which includes a core course (covering Biochemistry, Molecular & Cellular Biology, Genetics, Cellular Physiology & Biophysics, Immunology, and Neuroscience) and elective courses chosen from all participating departments. These include:

Cell Pathology
Microbial Pathogenesis
Principles of Pharmacology
Human Genetics and Development
Advanced Cell Biology
Molecular and Cellular Immunology

Laboratory rotations to expose students to the different research programs

A stipend of $26,500/year
