Morris
Schaffer Endowed Scholarship Fund
The late Dr. Joseph Fu, acting as Professor Emeritus in the Department
of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, established
the Dean Morris Schaffer Endowed Scholarship
Fund with the Foundation of UMDNJ. This Fund,
honoring Morris Schaffer the first Dean of the
graduate school, is to be used by the Graduate
School at Newark to recognize an outstanding
student (PhD or MD/PhD) who is in the early stage
of thesis research. The monetary award (approximately
$1,300.00/year) will be given annually at our
pre-commencement banquet.
Candidate(s) are selected for this
honor from various GSBS Programs after review
of the following nomination materials:
- letter of support from the
program director or chair
- academic record
- abstracts and
publications
- one page description of the
thesis research
- any other information that
supports the application.
