Course Description
This intensive two and a half day workshop covers key topics in management and treatment of tuberculosis including epidemiology, transmission & pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of TB, TB in children and adolescents, multi-drug resistant tuberculosis, TB/HIV co-infection, and the role of surgery in TB. The format includes lectures, discussions, and case studies.

Target Audience
This workshop is designed for licensed healthcare professionals who are actively engaged in the management of patients with tuberculosis or TB control staff responsible for program management.

Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the principles of TB transmission, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Apply recent guidelines for the treatment of tuberculosis, contact investigation, and the use of new diagnostic procedures to the management of patients with tuberculosis
  • Discuss the management of TB in special patient populations, e.g., pediatric patients, persons with TB-HIV co-infection, and persons with drug resistant disease

Lodging is available at the Hampton Inn & Suites – Newark Riverwalk – in Harrison, NJ. The room rate is $129.00 + 15% tax. Complimentary bus transportation will be provided between the hotel and the conference site. The Hampton Inn has free airport shuttle service to and from Newark Liberty International Airport.
