Course Description
This intensive two day workshop covers key topics in management and treatment of tuberculosis including epidemiology, transmission & pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of TB, TB in children, MDR-TB, TB/HIV co-infection, and other special topics. The format includes a combination of lectures, discussion and case studies.

Target Audience
This workshop is designed for physicians and nurse practitioners who are actively engaged in the management of patients with tuberculosis.

Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the principles of TB transmission, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Apply recent guidelines for the treatment of tuberculosis, contact investigation as it relates to TB outbreaks, and the use of new diagnostic procedures to the management of patients with tuberculosis
  • Discuss the management of TB in special patient populations, e.g., immigrants and refugees, pediatric patients, persons with TB-HIV co-infection, and persons with drug resistant disease

Fee
There is no fee for attending this course. While breakfast and lunch will not be provided, mid-morning and late afternoon coffee breaks and light refreshments will be available.
