| The purpose of this training is to increase provider awareness and knowledge of tuberculosis, including new treatment options for latent TB infection, issues related to interjurisdictional collaboration, laboratory techniques used to diagnose TB, use of Inter-FERON Gamma Release Assays (IGRA), and TB & Diabetes. This training utilizes lectures and case-based presentations. |
| This training is designed for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals working in the state of New York who are involved in the management of patients with tuberculosis. |
| As TB incidence declines, maintaining expertise in TB becomes particularly challenging. This course aims to build the clinical TB knowledge base to identify and treat TB cases. |
|
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Apply current recommendations for the treatment of latent TB infection to achieve successful outcomes.
- Describe laboratory methods to diagnose and guide treatment of TB patients.
- Explain the relationship between TB and diabetes to ensure proper diagnosis and avoid complications in treatment.
- Discuss the practical applications of interferon gamma release assays in local health department settings.
Describe the interjurisdictional process and discuss challenges in collaborating with other agencies. |
|
In order to meet the learning objectives, participants are required to attend the course, and complete an evaluation form.
