At the end of this conference, participants will be able to:

• Apply epidemiology of TB in New York City to recognize risk factors when encountering a TB patient in the community and health care facility
• Recognize high-risk populations and focus outreach activities to increase awareness about TB in the community
• Develop awareness of the new health code reporting requirement and collaborate with the health department to ensure proper treatment and monitoring of patients
• Describe new methods to diagnose and guide treatment of TB patients
• Employ the current guidelines for use of interferon gamma release assays to diagnose infection with M. tuberculosis in at risk persons

In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are required to register in advance, attend the entire course, and complete an evaluation form.
