| The purpose of this training is to increase provider awareness and knowledge of tuberculosis, including TB epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of latent TB infection, TB in congregate settings, and TB & co-morbidities. This training utilizes lectures, panel discussions, and case-based presentations. |
| This training is designed for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in management of patients with TB. |
| As TB incidence declines, maintaining expertise in TB becomes particularly challenging. This symposium aims to build the clinical TB knowledge base to identify and treat TB cases. |
|
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Assess the historical perspective of tuberculosis in order to comprehend future challenges in developing effective medication regimens
- Interpret the global, national and local epidemiology of TB to better screen and treat groups at high risk
- Apply current recommendations for the risk assessment, testing, and treatment of latent TB infection to prevent development of active disease
- Coordinate with stakeholders in order to prevent missed opportunities for the diagnosis and treatment of TB in congregate settings
- Explain the relationship between TB and other co-morbid conditions to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment of TB in patients with co-morbidities

In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are required to attend the course, and complete a course evaluation form. A post-course follow-up evaluation will be sent to participants within 2 months of the course.
