Our Mission
The mission of the Department of Government Affairs is to advance the University's goals by initiating, researching and monitoring local and national public policy, legislative initiatives and regulatory enforcement affecting the University.
The Department advocates for the University, representing University concerns to elected officials and is the clearing house for all inquiries from legislators and regulators concerning University positions.
The Department serves as the information liaison between the University and elected representatives in Trenton, N.J. and Washington, D.C. The Government Affairs staff present University policy to key decision makers, committee staff and executive leaders through meetings and discussions, as well as through testimony at hearings. University staff, students, faculty, alumni and community partners are often called on to assist in University advocacy efforts. Included in this process is our advocacy for annual State and Federal appropriations. This influential united voice is necessary to achieve laws and regulations that are in the best interest of the University.
