Team in Botswana discuss training package
The WHO/HHS-CDC PMTCT Generic Training Package (GTP) is a comprehensive, evidence-based course on the prevention of mother-to-child transmission in resource-limited settings. The GTP was designed to link and strengthen PMTCT services and existing training efforts. The GTP, which has been used by at least 45 countries in Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia, Oceania and South America, is intended to be adapted to include country-specific policies, guidelines, and recommendations.

The FXB Center developed the GTP in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (HHS-CDC).

Trainer and Participant Manuals are the core of the GTP and contain 9 stand-alone modules with interactive skills-building exercises and accompanying slides. This training material supports a 5 1/2 day course with an optional half-day field visit. The Trainer Manual supports, trainers to use a range of teaching methods to create a highly interactive learning experience.
