The Director of Facilities Planning manages the assignment and reassignment
of space throughout the University. Upon receipt of a
Request for Space, the Director of Facilities Planning monitors the
University’s Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided facilities
Management Database System (CAD/CAFM) for available space. A
recommendation for assignment is made to the Assistant Vice President
for Operations for review with the Vice President of Administration.
The CAD/CAFM database system tracks the school/unit assignment,
space usage and square footage on a room by room basis for all
buildings owned and operated by the University.
School/units may request assignment
of space by submitting a formal Request for Space
memorandum to the Executive
Director . The memorandum should provide the name
of the school/unit requesting space, the department,
the approximate square footage required, the number
of offices and/or workstations needed the number of
people and their titles, and the intended usage and
time frame in which the space is needed. You may want
to first review the Request
for Space Policy 00-01-70-30:00 before submitting
your memorandum.
