The Director of Facilities Planning manages the assignment and reassignment
of space throughout the University. Upon receipt of a
Request for Space, the Director of Facilities Planning monitors the
University’s Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided facilities
Management Database System (CAD/CAFM) for available space. A
recommendation for assignment is made to the Assistant Vice President
for Operations for review with the Vice President of Administration.
The CAD/CAFM database system tracks the school/unit assignment,
space usage and square footage on a room by room basis for all
buildings owned and operated by the University.
School/units may request assignment
of space by submitting a formal Request for Space
memorandum to the Acting
Department Head. The memorandum should provide
the name of the school/unit requesting space, the
department, the approximate square footage required,
the number of offices and/or workstations needed the
number of people and their titles, and the intended
usage and time frame in which the space is needed.
You may want to first review the Request
for Space Policy 00-01-70-30:00 before submitting
your memorandum.
