What We Do
Real Estate Leasing
Facilities Planning & Construction provides Real Estate and Leasing
Management Services to the University community statewide. The Manager of
Real Estate assists the University in the market search and negotiation of space
in off-campus leased facilities.
Schools/units
may request assistance in leasing off-campus space
by submitting a formal Request for Lease Space memorandum
to the Acting
Department Head. The memorandum should provide
the name of the school/unit departments, the desired
area and/or location, the approximate square footage,
the usages, the time frame needed and the funding
source for the lease.
Once the request is approved, the Manager of Real Estate will assist the school/
unit with an evaluation of available properties. After a suitable site is found,
FP&C will work with the Office of Legal Management and Risk & Claims
Management to negotiate the lease of the property. The lease agreement will be
reviewed and approved by appropriate UMDNJ personnel. The requestor is
responsible for notifying FP&C of the departmental assignments so that FP&C
may Update the University Space Database.
The Manager of Real Estate maintains a database of all University leases. This
database tracks the occupant, address of leased properties, square footage,
usage, lease and renewal terms, expiration and rental dates. Before submitting
your memorandum, please review the Leasing of Facilities Policy. 00-01-70-
