CHILD HEALTH INSTITUTE OF NEW JERSEY
89 French Street
New Brunswick Campus
The recently completed
Child Health Institute of New
Jersey is a leading center for
pediatric research and
clinical care. It will benefit
children throughout the
state. The 150,000 square
foot building anchors the
medical campus of Robert
Wood Johnson University
Hospital. A two-level lobby
links the French Street
entrance to the upper level
colonnade and courtyard.
The building is not only a leading research facility, but it also houses a pediatric
treatment clinic. The laboratories are designed using a flexible, open system that
allows for maximum use of space and enhances the natural circulation of
researchers. Linear equipment rooms are designed for shared equipment. Lab
support spaces include special procedure rooms, temperature rooms, a darkroom
and glass wash areas.
A transgenic animal facility serves the UMDNJ research programs on the campus
including the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and the Cardiovascular Institute of
New Jersey.
