HOUSING
Norfolk & West Market Streets
Newark Campus
The 14-story
mixed occupancy building represents the University’s
first housing effort. It was completed in July 2006,
and houses 465 residents in 234 apartments.
The high
rise steel frame and concrete structure is on the
corner of Norfolk and West Market Streets. Nine stories
of residential space with a rooftop courtyard are
situated above a five-story open parking garage that
is an expansion of the existing Norfolk Street parking
deck.
In addition
to the 527 new parking spaces, the deck expansion
will include a campus fitness center, several retail
establishments and utility spaces. Residents have
security and direct access from the parking deck to
the lobby of the residential section via an access
control system.
The 234
studio, one, two, and three bedroom apartments include
efficiency kitchens, accessible bathrooms, and convenient
cable/phone/internet ports. Most apartments will have
views of downtown Newark and the New York City skyline.
