NEW JERSEY MEDICAL SCHOOL /
UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL CANCER CENTER
205 South Orange Avenue
Newark Campus
The New Jersey Medical
School/University Hospital
(NJMS/UH) Cancer Center is
currently the largest project on
UMDNJ’s Newark Campus.
Its distinctive visible presence
will mirror its scientific
distinction as it evolves into a
center of excellence for cancer
research, clinical treatments,
and administrative functions.
The facility
accommodates clinical and research space as well as
a research lab expansion and a vivarium. The building
is located adjacent to the existing University Hospital
Division of Radiation Oncology, which currently runs
two linear accelerators, but will expand to four.
The existing sub-grade Radiation Oncology area will
be coordinated with the new building to create a seamless
flow of patients and staff between new and existing
clinical spaces and eight new stories adjacent to
an existing floor.
The building
was completed mid 2006. Occupancy began shortly thereafter.
