NEW JERSEY DENTAL SCHOOL

The 80,000 square foot addition to the existing New Jersey Dental School increases the building’s size to 274,000 square feet. The addition, connected to the existing building on levels B, C, and D, will provide state-of-the-art clinical space as well as student and University amenities. The project is being completed in phases.

Phase 1, completed in 2004 was the core and shell of the addition.

It provides a new building entrance and entry plaza on 12th Avenue. The D level, with windows surrounding three sides, and furnished with leading edge equipment, was fitted out with 80 dental operatories, plus the required support space. Provisions were made to accommodate an additional 16 operatories.

Phase 2— recently completed— will provide for a number of auditoriums, as well as a gallery space on B-Level. The auditoriums provide for maximum flexibility through automated dividing walls, and are equipped with advanced audio-visual components to support distance learning. Public spaces will include a lounge and conference areas.

Future phases will provide for an additional floor of operatories on C-Level, as well as a Sterilization Suite on A-Level. The building is designed to support a vertical expansion of two additional stories.
