Pay parking will be available in UMDNJ parking deck P2 at the corner of South Orange Ave. & Bergen St. (entrance facing the Cancer Center).

The subject of this quarter’s presentations is “Learn about Cancer Clinical Trials.”

You are welcome to attend just the main presentation, or to come for the entire meeting.

The presentation will be from 5 to 6:00 PM, and will feature these speakers:

• Kiameesha Evans, MPH, MCHES, Program Director, Office of Community Outreach, Cancer Institute of NJ;
• Beverly Brevard, BA, Director, Health Systems Initiatives, Eastern Division, American Cancer Society
• Lois V. Greene, BSN, RN, MBA, Assistant Vice President, Ambulatory Care Services, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
• Yasmeen Barber, BA, Clinical Research Coordinator, NJMS University Hospital Cancer Center

Speakers will answer such questions as:

Do you know what clinical trials are?
Do you know that participants in clinical treatment trials should always be getting the current best known therapy or a proposed new treatment?

Do you know anyone who is afraid of participating in a research trial?
Participants in clinical trials are strictly protected! We will be explaining how.

It’s important that people of all backgrounds be represented in clinical trials —
     Are people of your background represented?
     If not, what can you do to help?

Learn the answers to these questions from local experts, and find out what cancer clinical trials are available in the area, plus

• Why clinical trials are essential to everyone's health,
• Why you or anyone you know with cancer or other serious illnesses should consider participating in clinical trials.
