The OSHA/PEOSH Bloodborne Pathogens Standard requires the use of safety equipment to prevent exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials among health care and laboratory personnel.
UMDNJ utilizes the Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) Potential Exposure Report Form to determine the circumstances of each exposure so that it can be ascertained which safety measures must be taken in the future to prevent similar incidents.
Occupational Medical Services/Employee Health Services or designated physicians from the campus on which the incident occurs will interview personnel using the questions on this form following an exposure incident. They will then work together with EOHSS to ensure that control measures are implemented for UMDNJ personnel at UMDNJ and affiliated facilities.
