Laboratory Safety Training For Clinicians

 

 

         

Introduction

Who Should Complete This Training

This module is for clinicians who also have laboratory responsibilities and who prefer not to attend a class-room style session. Classroom style training schedules can be found by following campus-specific links from the EOHSS homepage: http://www2.umdnj.edu/eohssweb/eohss.htm

Regulatory Requirements

Completion of this module will satisfy your training requirements under the following regulations:

PEOSH Laboratory Safety Standard (29 CFR 1910.1450 - "Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Substances in Laboratories"),
Hazardous Waste Manager (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act)
PEOSH Formaldehyde Standard (29 CFR 1910.1048)

Laboratory Safety and Right to Know training are required for laboratory personnel every other year. Hazardous waste manager training is required annually. Formaldehyde training is required annually for employees with potential exposure.

Frequency of Training

Since laboratory safety training is required every other year, personnel who last completed laboratory training in 2002 must complete training by the end of 2004 and those who completed laboratory safety training in 2003 must complete training by the end of 2005. Hazardous waste training is required annually and will be conducted separately on off years.
